Magical Uses: Lemons boast metaphysical associations with the moon and the element of water, so next time you whip up a batch of moon water, add in a squeeze of lemon juice or add a slice of lemon (dried or fresh) to your water. The dried peel and flowers of lemon are added to love sachets and mixtures, and the leaves are used in teas. Lemon juice can be mixed with water and the mixture is used to wash amulets, jewelry and other magical objects which have been obtained second hand it is also good for a floor wash. This wash ensures that all negative vibrations are cleansed from the objects in question. The juice is also added to bath water at the time of the full moon for its purification powers. You can invigorate your ritual bath with the cleansing properties of lemon by either a little fresh lemon juice added to your bath water, or fill a sachet with lemon rinds, or add slices of dried lemon to your bath or bath salts.
Lemons can also be used in Sun Magic, if you cut a lemon in half horizontally you notice that it looks distinctly like a sunburst. On the altar, lemons can symbolize solar energy and the divine magic, making them a perfect addition to sun magic rituals and spells. Symbolically, Lemons have been attributed the power of deflection to the evil eye – this is because the fruit itself is shaped like an eye. Adding lemon peel or leaves to spells or rituals involving love and lust can amplify these intentions.
These herbs, resins, roots, flowers, and powders are meant to be used for spell and ritual work not for human consumption.
